National statistics demonstrate that approximately 1 in 4 Latinas report they have been abused at some point in their lives. Studies reveal that spousal abuse is just as common within the evangelical churches as anywhere else. This means that about 25 percent of faith homes witness abuse of some kind.

Domestic Violence is an issue that affects those outside and within the Church. As a domestic violence survivor, activist, public figure and believer in faith, I feel it is my responsibility to use my public platform to provide hope to victims of domestic violence. The purpose of the walk to provide further awareness and visibility to this issue, since so many of the victims of domestic violence remain in the shadows of fear and shame, and are unwilling to come forward.

The creation of The L.O.V.E. Walk is to ensure that every year we walk in the shoes and make the noise that will wake up society to this disease. Join is us on Saturday, October 27 at 8:45am at Bronx Park East Baseball Field in the Bronx as we demonstrate that all it takes is the first step to live a life of
PURPOSE, LOVE and HOPE!
